Tenacious country music newcomer Annie Vander shows her fierce side in her new single He Himself & Him. This song is officially hitting mainstream country radio and is now available on all streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and more.
Following the success of her most recent release, Tonight, which landed on several streaming playlists, Annie Vander is showing off a new side of her musical repertoire with He Himself & Him. This upbeat, spunky song calls out an all-too relatable dating experience of dealing with narcissistic men when trying to put yourself out there. Annie was having a conversation with talented songwriter and producer David Norris when the light bulb switched on. “‘Check this song out,’ he said. He read me the lyrics to He Himself & Him with the story teller in his voice, just by reading the lyrics, I said…yes! That’s it!” Annie recalls. “It is so relatable and so fun! I feel like almost any woman can relate to it. I think we have all experienced a bad date or 20 at some point in life!” The song serves as a reminder to never settle for anything less than you deserve. This tune will be the perfect one to sing at the top of your lungs with your girlfriends, no matter what stage of life you’re in.
Written by respected Nashville songwriters Cece Dubois and David Norris, He Himself & Him is a fun and sassy take on an everyday dating dilemma. “I remember walking into a writing session at Cece’s office down on Music Row at SAG/AFTRA and she was a bit frustrated,” David says of his phone call with Annie. “I asked what’s on her mind. She answered me with, “His damned ego wraps around him like a cheap suit!” I couldn’t help but laugh at her blatant description and replied, “Ok, we have got to write that!” The end result turned out better than they imagined, with Annie’s spunk and personality the focal point of the tune.
After just one day of its release to country radio, He Himself & Him was the #1 most streamed song and was in the Top 5 of the most downloaded on PlayMPE, coming in right after Megan Moroney. Within a week of its release to country radio, He Himself & Him was in the top 3 most streamed tracks on PlayMPE, coming in right after Drew Baldridge and Trey Lewis.
