The countdown has begun for Country-Soul singer Drake White’s  inspiring “Benefit for the Brain,” a one-night-only charity concert set for Monday, August 28 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.

Featuring performances by White, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson and more, the event is planned as an encouraging night raising funds and awareness for mental and brain health – a deeply personal cause for White, who survived an onstage stroke in 2019.

With tickets nearly sold-out, White recently spoke with Nashville’s FOX 17 about the big-hearted show, saying he hopes to make “Benefit for the Brain” a yearly event with a global impact.

“I’m looking forward to bringing the spiritual kind of awakening of people helping people and showing how we can battle this mental health crisis in this country and in this world,” White explained.

Making the announcement via Instagram, White and Green explain the co-headlining run was motivated by their shared desire to disconnect people from their devices, and re-connect them to each other – a musical mission that also inspired a new collaborative song, which will be released soon.

The reveal follows White’s newly-released single, “Spirit,” which came out in June and has earned overwhelmingly positive reactions from outlets like Whiskey Riff, who note “You can’t find a more soulful voice in all of country music than Drake White,” and call “Spirit” “the perfect setting to let the power in Drake’s voice shine.”

A swaying traveler’s anthem with a hard-won sense of inner peace, “Spirit” was co-written by White with Leslie Satcher and Phil Pence, and marks the first taste of an upcoming studio project. Stream or download the track here

ABOUT DRAKE WHITE:
Drake White grew up singing in his church’s youth choir in Alabama before becoming one of Country music’s most spirited innovators, earning four Top 40 hits and traveling the country on multiple nationwide tours. His 2013 debut single “Simple Life” introduced his brand of Country Soul, which he cemented with 2016 debut album SPARK followed by the EPs ‘Pieces’ and ‘Stars.’ In August 2019, he collapsed on stage due to a hemorrhagic stroke, and doctors told him he might never perform again. After undergoing a series of operations to repair his Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) and months of physiotherapy, White has proved them wrong, returning to the road to spread his incredible positivity to his fans. In 2022 he embarked on his headline THE OPTIMYSTIC TOUR, which spanned dates in the U.S. and the U.K. His latest album, THE OPTIMYSTIC, is an inspiring glimpse into the journey he has taken over the past few years, and the “extremely accomplished album” (American Songwriter) delivers a “powerful message” (Nashville Lifestyles) via White’s “smooth brand of country-soul” (Billboard). White has received accolades including Rolling Stone’s 10 Country Artists You Need to Know, The Grammy’s Artist of Tomorrow and the British CMA Awards’ International Song of the Year and has shared the bill with Country music superstars like Luke Bryan, Eric Church and Zac Brown Band.
