In anticipation of their upcoming first full-length vinyl album, SIX GUN SOUL (which will drop on March 15 on The Label Group/Virgin imprint), RICK MONROE & THE HITMEN are pleased to release their latest single “Moonshine Man,” a swampy, hard-driving, high-octane anthem to the legendary bootleggers of Kentucky.
Produced by Malcolm Springer and mastered by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering (Calif.) and penned by Monroe and bandmate Alan Beeler, “Moonshine Man” was written literally on the fly when the band realized they needed one more song to finish the album.
“We tracked the initial verses and that’s when we realized that we needed more verses. So, I came out of the vocal booth, we took a few minutes, and then we cut the song. It came out better than we could have ever imagined–this one is now a band favorite,” explains Rick.
“Moonshine Man” is one of several previously released singles leading up to and contained on the upcoming SIX GUN SOUL vinyl. Fan Favorites include the title track, “World’s Gone Crazy,” and “God’s Ear,” the later being hailed by critics and other musicians–from Robert K. Oermann (Music Row) to Shawn Drover (formerly of Megadeath).
