Rising country artist Chris Housman attended the 2024 CMT Music Awards Sunday (4.7), announcing his highly anticipated debut album, Blueneck, scheduled for release on May 31st. The album’s heartfelt single, “Guilty As Sin” is out now.

Produced by Jerry Fuentes (Last Bandoleros, Steele Fountain), “Guilty As Sin” sets the tone for a deeply personal debut. “I often write songs from my own experiences and struggles,” says Housman. “The idea for this song was inspired by the one and only time I truly tried to ‘pray the gay away’. It took a long time to get there, but this song is about my journey to accepting that there is absolutely nothing wrong with loving someone else.”

The sultry music video for “Guilty as Sin” will premiere exclusively on CMT on Wednesday, April 18th in Times Square, NYC and CMT Digital.

Housman burst onto the scene after his viral TikTok hits, “Blueneck”, “Bible Belt” and “Drag Queen” collectively garnered over 10 million views across the platform, skyrocketing the song “Blueneck” to #1 on iTunes Country and #4 on iTunes all-genre.

After revealing the appropriately titled album, Housman shared, “‘Blueneck’ feels like my life’s work up to this point – the thing I’ve been working on since I picked up the fiddle at 7 years old. While the album is upbeat and positive, it also bares my soul and my truth. It’s a capture of my perspective as a queer Country artist from a very rural, very conservative small Kansas town. It’s the album I wish I heard growing up.”
