Morgan Wallen, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton

It’s almost time!  Are you all ready for the 2024 Country Music Association awards show!  We are hoping your favorites are among the nominees this year. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.  If you can’t watch that night, it will be streaming on Hulu the next day.

We love seeing Morgan Walling sitting on the top of that Nomination list, with eight nominations.  Every artist nominated in every category is so deserving of the recognition.  And we absolutely love Chris Stapleton holding his place on the charts and in our hearts with his traditional country music sound. We could not say enough about Lainey Wilson.  She is a true country artist and keeps bringing back the sound a lot of us miss. Luke Combs, Jelly roll, Cody Johnson – all fan favorites, and all sure to help make the 58th CMA Awards a show to watch.

I have a little problem trying to decide exactly what “New Artist of the Year” really means.  Take a look at those nominees.  Let’s start out with Megan Moroney.  She had No. 1 single two years ago, “Tennessee Orange”.  She had success with “I’m Not Pretty”.  Her nomination list is endless!  IHeartRadio Music Awards, CMA, ACM, CMT and People’s Choice, all show her as nominee for many categories.  Since she is also nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, which she did receive a ACM award for in 2023.   So, which is she?  An established artist who needs to be listed with Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, Kacey Musgraves and Lainey Wilson.  Or is she a New Artist like, Shaboozey, Nate Smith, Mitchell Tenpenny, Zach Top and Bailey Zimmerman.  I question a few of those as well.  Are Mitchell Tenpenny and Bailey Zimmerman really NEW.  They have chart-topping singles, too.  Something to think about.

As for the nominees – all great.  As for the upcoming show – expecting nothing but the best.  Plan your favorite ‘here’s what I like to eat when I’m watching TV” treats; invite a houseful of your country music friends and get ready to enjoy what we believe is going to be a great show.
