Inspirational country artist Amanda Hagel pays tribute to her musical roots with a timeless rendition of John Denver’s Country Roads. Now available on all major digital streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music, her heartfelt interpretation of this iconic classic is also accompanied by a performance video, available HERE.
This highly anticipated special remake is already gaining momentum on Canadian Country Radio, offering a beautifully haunting and soulful take on the beloved song. The song was produced by JUNO Award recipient Hal Schrenk at Big Bang Studios in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who enlisted an incredible cast of musicians across Canada and the United States. The result is a lush instrumentation in a refreshing arrangement. “Once we recorded Amanda’s voice in the demo session, I knew we needed to build the instrumentation around her voice,” said Schrenk.
The inspiration for this remake stemmed from a spontaneous moment of studio magic. During a rehearsal for a folk festival performance, Amanda and her band were left speechless after playing Country Roads together for the first time. “I knew we were on to something the minute I heard it and just had to record it,” says Amanda.
With artists such as Olivia Newton John, Daryl Singletary, Dalton Dover, Lana Del Rey, Brandi Carlile and Emmylou Harris having already covered this classic tune, Amanda’s version brings a fresh perspective to the 1971 hit. Her enchanting delivery and poignant vocals elevate the song, offering listeners a deeply moving experience. Known for her introspective artistry, Amanda’s creative process is guided by heartfelt inspiration, ensuring her music is not only heard but profoundly felt. “I hope this version takes listeners on a musical journey, transforming the poetic lyrics and beautiful melody of the song to an even deeper and more meaningful place.”
To complete this release, Amanda has unveiled a visually stunning music video filmed at Sound Castle Studio in Viscount, Saskatchewan. The video captures the visual beauty and the raw emotion of the song, bringing its essence to life. Watch it now HERE.
