MULTI-PLATINUM entertainer and TV/film actor Trace Adkins releases a brand-new song entitled “That Someday.” This dusty revenge ballad notably accompanies his role as “Big Buck” in the new action film, Day of Reckoning — in theaters today. Capturing the spirit of the movie, Adkins personally penned the song with frequent collaborator and co-writer Casey Beathard (Eric Church, George Strait, Kenny Chesney), while Mickey Jack Cones (Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan) produced the track. Fittingly, it also plays during the closing credits, delivering a powerful final word.

On “That Someday,” a stately clean guitar melody resounds over soft feedback accented by slide and dobro. A big screen-worthy tale unfolds across the verses until the climactic chorus where Adkins declares, “Today is that someday, that one day I’ve been waiting on, that what goes around comes back around time to face the music song.” At the same time, he issues a warning, “The devil’s darkest fear is finally here.” Following a powerful bridge, a wailing guitar solo cuts through a wall of reverb in dramatic fashion.
With the official music video directed by the movie’s same director, Shaun Silva, and released today in conjunction with the film, Adkins appears in Day of Reckoning alongside Zach Roerig, Cara Jade Myers, Billy Zane, Yelawolf, and Struggle Jennings.
Adkins continues to make headlines across culture this year. He notably just delivered a stunning performance of “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing” on Opry 100: Live. In case you missed it, watch here. Not to mention, NBC featured him in its official re-cap of Opry 100, The Tennessean included him in its photo feature, and Billboard shouted out his rendition of “(This Ain’t) No Thinkin’ Thing” among its “Opry 100: A Live Celebration: 10 Best Moments.” Plus, Variety just broke the news of his appearance in I Can Only Imagine 2 — due for release on March 20, 2026. Produced by Lionsgate, it serves as the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster hit I Can Only Imagine. Adkins will reprise his role as “Scott Brickell.” Over the weekend, he wrapped up his run on Blake Shelton’s Friends & Heroes Tour in front of a packed crowd in State College, PA.
At the beginning of the month, Adkins returned to NBC’s TODAY to deliver the TV debut of his vibrant new single, “What Color’s Your Wild” (Verge Records Nashville). He also chatted with anchors Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin about the meaning of the song and his role in Day of Reckoning. Watch the Country icon’s appearance here.
Produced by Bart Butler, MusicRow highlighted the Monty Criswell and Casey Beathard penned track as the Disc of the Day (2/27) and applauded, “the big man can still deliver the goods. And how. This stomper is loaded with charisma, and the color-coded lyric about pursuing passion is terrific. I hung on every note. Essential audio.”
Next up, Adkins will kick off his headlining WHAT COLOR’S YOUR WILD TOUR on March 29 in Du Quoin, Illinois. The run will feature more than a dozen dates across the U.S. before wrapping October 27 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. For a full list of tour stops and ticket information, visit here.
