In an interview with Julia Searle earlier today, TV host Cameron Wallace (Camo) announced the launch of “Camo’s Rising Star Road Trip.” The show has evolved from Nashville Meets World.
Camo’s Rising Star Road Trip will continue to champion indie artists of all genres, exposing these indie artists to a worldwide audience.
“It’s important,” says Camo. We have found incredible indie artists from several countries around the world, creating great music, but are largely unknown outside of their own country or region. I love how our audiences are connecting with them! I’m still blown away that someone in Saudi Arabia or China can connect with an artist from Sweden or the UK, for example. There’s so much music out there, and being given a sort of ‘heads up’ from our show can help them be mined from the vast amount of music on digital platforms. We’re really proud that we’re becoming a world-wide influencer.”
Nashville Meets World was a “stepping stone” to Camo’s Rising Star Road Trip, according to Camo. “That’s right. With my move from Nashville back to England, it provides us with really unique opportunities. We’re starting sort of close to home, in Greater London, and expanding throughout the UK. As more countries open up, we’ll be travelling to them.”
What can viewers expect from the new show? “As I said, we’ll be doing a lot of travelling. We’ll be going to cities, towns, villages, in the UK first, then we’ll expand—and interview a rising indie artist from that location, or living in that location. We’ll discover pubs, clubs, theatres, gymnasiums—and many tourist locations that shaped that artist’s music—and then we’ll have a mini-concert from the artist. We’re creating something new here: music tourism. It’s also multi-genre. The goal here is to build the indie music community without walls. They can be who they are on our show. We can’t wait to take viewers along for the ride. We’ll also continue with our Concert Series, which has been very popular. It’s a great vehicle for indie artists as well.
Camo’s Rising Star Road Trip will be a weekly one-hour web-tv series, airing on the channel’s Facebook page and Youtube channel. Talks are underway to move to broader, on-demand platforms. Camo says, “This is a great opportunity for advertisers to be a part of something innovative, entertaining, music, and tourism driven.”
