DSCN3317There is no where to begin with this article, but to tell you all that if you have never seen Eric Paslay on stage, you’re missing out on something great.  I sat in my seat in total awe of this man’s vocals.  We knew going in that his songs are great.  We all had our favorites, both the ones he sang, and the ones he wrote that others recorded.  But, this was the first time I ever got to see Eric Paslay put on a show.  and, let me tell you – the man definitely puts on a show!

I’ve been to a few shows during my more than 60 years of attending country concerts.  And, there have been a couple of times I’ve listened to the artist and really wanted to ask someone, “Why isn’t this guy a huge star”?  That would be my question about Eric Paslay, if I knew who I was supposed to ask. He sings, he writes, he performs, he interacts with his audience, he works so well with his band … and, while “She Don’t Love You” was nominated for ACM Song of the Year–Eric showed us all that there is a lot more to Eric Paslay than just a handful of songs.

DSCN3384Eric shared the stage with some extremely talented musicians, who also fall into that category of being great entertainers.  We got to enjoy Chris Roach , bass guitar/vocals; Dane Kinser, guitar/vocals; and Stephen Keith, Drums.

Every song he sang during his Monday night show was more than familiar to ever person in that audience. And, he had a very diverse audience.  There were older ones, younger ones, couples, singles, men, women, a nice group. And, it seemed every song he sang was someone’s favorite. I wasn’t aware that he had written “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” (recorded by Jake Owen), but that has always been one of my favorites…there’s just something about that line ‘we were shining like lighters in the dark in the middle of a rock show’ that stayed with me.  A lot of songs have a line that identifies the song, and for me –  that was the line in that song.

Eric talked a little about his Angels In This Town Tour last year. The focus of that tour was to shine a light on all the good that happens every day in the world.  Eric shared how it took him to cities across the country where he got to visit ‘angels’ who make a difference in their own communities.  He visited hospitals, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Habitat for Humanity houses. Long before I knew about the tour, I had “Angels in this Town” at the top of my ‘favorite songs by Eric’ list.

DSCN3392Throughout the night, Eric gave us “Even if it Breaks Your Heart,” “Backstage Pass”, “Like A Song”, Amarillo Rain, “On the Road Again”, “Rewind”, and of course, “She Don’t Love You”. He closed the show with “Friday Night” – and somewhere between the top and bottom of his set list, he danced his way through “Satisfaction”, one of those songs you just know (even if you have only listened to country music your entire life.

In addition to Eric’s pre-show meet and greet, and on-air interview with Marc Tragler form WXBQ, he also stayed after the show to make sure the line of fans waiting for an autograph and a photo with him were able to get one. He smiled a lot, he seemed so appreciative of the people who came out to see his show.

In addition to Eric’s website, visit his Facebook page, and remember to “Like and Follow” while you are there. Check out the other social media links listed on his website.  And, follow him on Twitter @ericpaslay.  If you aren’t already following Country’s Chatter on Twitter, we’d love to have you.  You will find us @countryschatter.

Going to close this post with more pictures from what just may be the best show we get at the 2017 Appalachian Fair.  And, an invitation to Eric to come back, any time!  We’d love to have you again.
