Long-time Country’s Chatter readers know that we are big fans of Nashville singer/songwriter Brinley Addington. The ‘About’ section of his website tells us Brinley’s love of music began with a family trip to Nashville, which included a visit to the Grand Ole Opry.  Brinley was somewhere around three years old at the time of that visit.

Since Brinley is from this area, so I was privileged to see him perform at many local events during the early years of his entertainment career. He is a Kingsport, Tenn., native.  In 2008, he moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University. While there, he performed at many legendary honky tonks on lower Broadway. He toured the country playing clubs, fairs, festivals and opening shows for artists including Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Chris Young, Jon Paredi, Marty Stuart, Ronnie Milsap and many others.

I have always been impressed with his songwriting ability. He is a great storyteller, and he knows what country music is. My favorite Brinley songs include “Better on a Barstool”, “Still  Not over You”, “As Long As You Love Me”, and “Homegrown Pride”.

I know a lot of you aren’t familiar with Brinley’s music, but you will recognize one that he had a hand in writing.  It was his first No. 1 and was nominated for both a GRAMMY and a CMA award.  That song was “Chasing After You”, sung by Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd.  He has also had songs recorded by Parmalee, “Backroad Girl”; Darius Rucker, “Stargazing”; Chris Janson, “”Hank the Hell Out of the Honkeytonk”; Tyler Farr, “I Should go to Church Sometime”, Kameron Marlowe, “Burn ‘Em All”, and Texas artists Kevin Fowler and Kyle Park.

I want to share this video with you – another one of those Brinley songs that sits well at the top of my, “I really like this…” list.  “Come Back”.

If you aren’t very familiar with Brinley Addington, please visit his social media sites.  Listen to his music and let us know what you think.  I’m sure we will be hearing a lot more from Brinley in the future.
