Hit singer/songwriter CJ Solar, who celebrated his first Top 15 single with “Airplane,” has been confirmed to open two shows on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. Fans can catch the artist Rolling Stone Country named one of their “New Artists You Need To Know” June 29 in Raleigh and June 30 in Charlotte.

“I couldn’t believe it, when I first got the news about opening for one of my favorite bands,” said an elated CJ, who released his Get Away With It EP on Sea Gayle Records in April. “This is definitely getting checked off the bucket list!”

CJ wrote “Airplane,” the first single from Get Away With It, with Westin Davis and Rick Huckaby. Rolling Stone Country listed it as one of their “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week” as it neared the Top 15. Around the same time, top country entertainment outlet Taste of Country named CJ as one of their “5 Country Artists to Watch in May 2018.”

Get Away With It follows Solar’s critically-acclaimed Hard One To Turn Down EP, which The Shotgun Seat called “the perfect pairing of country storytelling and rocking rhythms, married by his dynamic vocals” and named him in their “17 to Watch in 17.” Critics at The Daily Country wrote, “Solar injects a hefty and welcome dose of Southern rock into his country, which melds perfectly with his gravelly vocals.”

As a songwriter, Solar is enjoying Top 5 success with Morgan Wallen’s “Up Down” single featuring Florida Georgia Line. He also has had recent cuts by Jerrod Niemann, Justin Moore and Texas artists Mike Ryan and Kyle Park, whose “What The Heaven” single hit #1 on the Texas charts.
