Country music icon Martina McBride is not letting the Nashville summer heat ruin her Christmas spirt, and begins her gift giving with the release of It’s The Holiday Season. The 9-song holiday set will be released on October 19, the first with her new record label partner, BMG. McBride also continues her “The Joy of Christmas Tour” tradition, this time adding songs from the new album and bringing to life the big band and orchestral sounds by using local symphonies on each stop. In addition, she will be adding more spice into that mix, by releasing a second all-season cookbook, Martina’s Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist For Real Life, available October 30th.
For this album, McBride collaborated with the late Patrick “Pat”Williams who arranged a set of classic Christmas songs with accompaniment from more than 35 world-class musicians at the famed Capitol Studio in Los Angeles and Blackbird Studio in Nashville. This release follows her 1998 multiplatinum White Christmas.
“It’s been exactly 20 years since I released White Christmas. With that album I wanted to make it classic and something that would stand the test of time, which I feel like it has done. I wanted to accomplish the same thing with It’s The Holiday Season, but with a different feel. So I decided to make most of the album with a big-band swing vibe that takes you back to the Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald records. We recorded more of the pop Christmas numbers that lend themselves to that kind of feel rather than the focusing on the hymns like we did with White Christmas. I think they are great companion pieces and my hope is that they will both be enjoyed for years to come.” says McBride.

This year also brings back McBride’s anticipated “The Joy of Christmas Tour”, this time each with a local orchestra. The limited holiday run includes three nights at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.
“When I stood in the studio listening to that 38 piece band play, I knew I wanted to take it on the road. I am so excited to bring this music to life on stage and bring some of the joy of the season to people. Performing with the symphonies will be such a grand and unique experience for me. I can’t wait!” says McBride.

Before the holiday festivities begin, McBride’s sophomore cookbook Martina’s Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life hits shelves. Available October 30, the new collection includes nearly 300 pages of family recipes and new creations from her own kitchen. This follows her 2014 release Around The Table.
“When I find a delicious recipe I can’t wait to share it, just like when I find a great song”, says McBride. “So I’m excited to share what I am cooking right now in my own kitchen for my family and friends. These are some of my very favorite recipes I’ve created since the last book, as well as some family recipes that have been handed down to me.
