Taking place on the Ellipse in President’s Park, the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony is an American tradition which began in 1923 and was broadcast this year on the Ovation and REELZ networks. Co-presented by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, 2018’s event featured Thompson Square and an array of spirited entertainers performing holiday favorites, plus the official lighting of the National Christmas Tree – a gorgeously-decorated living Colorado blue spruce which can be seen year round in the park.
