Big Loud Records’ MULTI-PLATINUM Country star Jake Owen reminisces the one that got away in “Fishin’ On A River,” releasing the hooky new track today (2/18).

Written by David Fanning, Drew Parker and Cole Taylor, the sentimental barstool rocker finds Owen drowning his sorrows instead of casting a line. Anchored in a roadside tavern (even though the sun still shines), he remembers a lost love that he deep down knows was a keeper … he just couldn’t reel it in.

Featuring crisp, clean guitars and vocals that flow like a waterfall of heartbreak, this new blast was produced by frequent collaborator, Joey Moi, and marks yet another preview of his next studio project.

“I knew I had to cut this song the moment I heard it,” says Owen. “When you first hear the title, you’d think it’s a good ole Country anthem about fishin’ with the boys. Instead, it’s a love done gone, sway along track that most everyone can relate. Here’s to the brokenhearted chasing their blues away with Jack and Rye instead of bass and fishing line.”

Fishin’ On A River” follows the 2021 release of “Drunk On A Boat” and current single “Best Thing Since Backroads,” which is climbing up the charts after becoming the most-added track at Country radio upon release.

All three form the early foundation of a new studio album, after Owen’s 2019 set, GREETINGS FROM…JAKE, proved a career highlight. That album featured three #1s – “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” “Homemade,” “Made For You” – and the PLATINUM smash “Down To The Honkytonk.”

Looking ahead, Owen has an extensive tour of festival appearances and headline dates scheduled all through 2022. See full list of tour stops here.
