Meghan Linsey, Hannah Dasher, James Otto and More to Perform During Benefit on Tuesday, Aug. 23
Approaching the 1 year anniversary of the catastrophic flood that took 19 lives in Loretta Lynn‘s hometown of Humphreys county, Jeremy Vaughn, Humphreys county native/producer and the Lynn family have organized Humphreys County Remembers, a benefit concert to be held at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.
The free concert will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 7 P.M. CT and will include performances from Meghan Linsey, Hannah Dasher, James Otto, Eric Paslay, Twitty & Lynn, Paul McDonald, William Lee Golden & The Goldens, Tigirlily, Mike Parker and many more. Humphreys County Remembers will provide the people of Humphreys county and beyond an opportunity to come together and enjoy live music while remembering the lives lost and allowing everyone to decompress after a long year of trying to rebuild the community.
“Being from Humphreys County where I was raised, the community in which my family still lives today, I feel honored to be able to give the citizens a free concert to come together and spread love, check in on one another and remember those 20 lives that we lost last year in the tragic floods that have forever changed my hometown. I put out the call to some of my friends in Nashville whom I have had the privilege of working with in the past and each and every one of them were honored to come and share their music in hopes to uplift the community. I am so thankful for the company that I currently produce for, Go West Creative. I had a meeting with our COO Eileen Valois and she was immediately on board with making this show possible and providing us with everything we needed to make sure that it was successful,” shared Vaughn.
On Aug. 21, 2021, extreme, heavy rainfall resulted in widespread flash flooding across western Middle Tennessee, including the town of Waverly. During the event, much of a five-county area received up to a quarter of normal annual rainfall in under twelve hours, as much as 10 to 15 inches. In a situation described as catastrophic, Waverly was severely damaged by floodwater, with hundreds of homes and dozens of businesses destroyed and swept away. Numerous people became trapped, leading to widespread water rescues. The event resulted in 19 fatalities in Waverly, with another in nearby Hurricane Mills, and is regarded as one of the worst natural disasters in Tennessee history.
