I wouldn’t want to venture a guess as to the number of country singer-songwriters we have in the world today. I will tell you that we are very happy when we are fortunate enough to have an email show up telling us about someone who is new to us.  When I say ‘new to us’, I mean those of us here at Country’s Chatter.  And, I’m not sure how we missed hearing about Ryan Langdon.  The information on his website tells us he is a 2019 CMAO Rising Star nominee.  After listening to his music, that is not a surprise.

We were going through email messages, playing ‘catch-up’, as we often do here. We found an email about Ryan Langdon’s new single, “Country Like You”.  The song was released on Aug. 31, by Hidden Pony Records.

The email told us that “Ryan is a Niagara Falls-based country singer-songwriter, Ryan Langdon, is returning with his first new release since 2020’s Lit in the Sticks EP, the sexy and raw “Country Like You.” The song’s story captures the experience of a guy meeting his perfect person, a woman who exemplified all the characteristics of how he defines “country.” Fiddle and pedal steel complement Langdon’s emotive vocals and authentic country production to create a great mood-setting tune perfect for slow dancing under the midnight sky.”

I listened to the song today.  To be honest, I listened to it enough times that I probably know all the words now.  This song is exactly what you would expect from today’s country music. There is nothing about this song I didn’t like. When you listen to “Country Like You”, it won’t take you long to realize that Ryan is unquestionably a country singer. Yet, there is a sound in his voice and in his music that makes you know instantly that there is a lot more to Ryan than one song.  After listening to this one song, I knew I was a fan.  After listening to more of his music, I actually understood why I said ‘you know instantly that there is a lot more to Ryan than one song’.

Since I liked “Country Like You” as much as I did, it didn’t take me very long to find a few more Ryan Langdon songs to listen to.  I went straight to “Lit in the Sticks”, it was on his website, so I didn’t have to look far to find it.  Finding Ryan was like finding a treasure chest.  It was obviously going to be filled with good music, and I knew I was in for a great evening.

I think this song is going to make everyone want to go see Ryan on stage.  At the end of this post, I am going to include the video for “Lit in the Sticks”  I really want to know what all of our readers think about this song, and this artist.  On his website, this is what Ryan had to say about “Lit in the Sticks”,  “This is a high energy country song that makes you want to party. It doesn’t matter where you are from or what’s in your wallet, anyone can get lit in the sticks.”  We agree.  We could not have said it any better.

Check out his music on Spotify.  “Best Night” was probably my biggest surprise in that list of songs. the song is a little slower than the ones I listened to earlier. This is a great song, and like every country song should be – it s a great story.  Starting from the first line … “I was up on stage, St. Patty’s Day….”.  That was enough for me.  It was almost like starting it with ‘Once upon a time…’.  I knew the story just started, and I wanted to hear the rest. It is titled “Best Night”, but it could have been called “YOU were the Best Nigh of my Life”.

“She Knows It” is awesome.  I love this one.  If country music has something we could call “just the right sound” this song is that sound.  Most people who have been reading Country’s Chatter for the past 15 years know that I am a a really big fan of what we now call classic country or traditional country music.  But, I’ve  had 20-30 years to enjoy artists like Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley, and many others. And, I really think this music I’m hearing from Ryan Langdon is as good anything we are hearing on country radio today.

I’m not going to tell you about all the songs on Spotify, because I want you do go listen.  Please listen to as many as you have time for.  “Leave Me Right” is another one I believe you will all enjoy.  I know I’ll be on Spotify for quite a while, adding Ryan Langdon to my library and listening often.

I am glad no one has asked me to pick my favorite Ryan Langdon song.  I don’t think I could pick just one.  In fact, my list of favorites would take up most of the rest of this article.

Ryan has figured out that we all love easy-access and social media.  He has it all covered for us!  Here are the social media links for Ryan.  Check them all out.  Visit his website, follow him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tictok, and have a look at some of those YouTube videos.  I am sure we will be hearing a lot more from Ryan in the future.
