We would like to introduce Country’s Chatter readers to Lauren Reno.  Many of you may already know this talented up-and-coming country sensation, but she is new to us.  Needless to say, we are glad we found her.  Her social media links are gaining new followers every day, and we are now among them.

Lauren recently released her sophomore album, GOLD RUSH.  I listened to every one of the 11 tracks, more than once.  My instant conclusion is that every sone on that album is a good one.  Then I thought, there is no way I can pick a favorite song from a group like this.  I enjoyed each song for a different reason. Those of you who have been reading Country’s Chatter for the past 15 years know that I don’t always like everything I hear. We all different tastes in our music.  So, even when we are talking about music I don’t love, I know a lot of you will.  With GOLD RUSH, I loved it all.

The bio on her website tells us that she is of Cherokee Indian descent. “Born in Nevada and the daughter of a gold miner, Lauren’s musical palate was cultivated by the sounds of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Martina McBride and that of her father, Eddie Dimock, who was signed with Capitol Records in the early 90s”. {Source}

We didn’t need to learn from her bio that she has powerful vocals, contemporary delivery, and is a storyteller.  That was all evidenced by her music.  I hope you will all take a few minutes to read her bio.  Look through the rest of her website while you are there.  She has great photos, a lot of information, and an online store.

“Sweet Marjorie” was written as a tribute to her grandmother.  This is one of the slower songs, with vocals as clear as a bell. My grandmother has been gone for a very long time.  This song reminded me of her.  We called her Nana.  It’s a story of that special time most of us shared with our grandmother.

I really liked the up-tempo, foot-stomping, hand clapping, sing along melody of “Crooked Smile” You’re heard those ‘get up off the floor and dance songs”.  This is one of those.  It’s a party with your friends’ song.  That’s what she intended it to be.  If he’s gone, party with the girls.

“Just A You And A Me”.  That title pretty much tells it all.  Check out her tone on this one.  Just beautiful.  This is one of those stories we could probably all share.  You fall in love, you expect it to last forever, it doesn’t, and you have a song.  At least that’s how it was for Lauren.  She has a way with words.  I believe in every song there is something with which I could identify.

“Me and The Neon”, “White Lies”, “Prone to Lose It”, and “Might Be” are all slow songs.  They have so much emotion, and her story-telling ability pulls you right in.  When you start to listen, you are going to react the same way you do when you read a good book.  When reading, you keep flipping pages to see what comes next.  When you listen to Lauren, you will wait and enjoy while you see where the story is going.

“Bottle’s Worth A Dime”, “Gold Rush”, “Don’t Think”, and “See You Again”, complete the 11-Track Album. I hope you will all check out this album from Lauren Reno.  Remember that name.  This is an artist we are going to be hearing a long more about in the months to come.  I’m going to post the video for “Gold Rush” at the end of this post. Let us know what you think of Lauren Reno.

This singer/songwriter/musician had a hand in writing all of the songs on the album – penning four of the songs, and the co-writer on the other seven.  You will find fast songs, and slow ones.  Songs that are serious, and songs that are fun. If you are a fan of country music from the 90s, you are going to really enjoy this.

“This was a labor of love for both me and Lauren. A true work of art, GOLD RUSH is Lauren’s best work. Every track is characterized by her unique vocal signature. The project has a deep romanticism about it; it’s a ‘traveling’ record’ — a listening experience one can enjoy on a journey across the country. It’s got something for everyone–those drawn to 90s country, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan, and the vocal styles of Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride.” — Co-writer/producer, Ben Reno
