We put up a post a little earlier to tell you all about the fantastic fireworks we saw last night at Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tenn.  Now it’s time to bring out the entertainment.  One after the next, fans enjoyed the music country artists George Birge, Matt Stell and Thompson Square brought to our Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration.

This post is about George.  If any of you don’t know his music, I hope you will all check out his YouTube videos. If you are the kind of country music fan I am, you already know YouTube is one of the best ways to not only listen to your favorite new artists, but to see them, too. We love “Chasin’ A Feeling”,  “Forever and a Day”, and of course “Mind On You”, which we are sure you’ve been listening to on your favorite country station. George has an introduction on YouTube which is so well done, you will leave the site feeling as if you’ve known him forever.

Every song George sings is something I would like to hear on the radio.  But, seeing him on stage was unforgettable.  People say and artists should ‘always leave you wanting more’.  George does.  He walked out on the stage and immediately turned it into the place he lived — at least for long enough to entertain his audience.

One thing I liked a lot about him is the obvious desire he has to be close to the fans.  To say hello, to pose for pictures, and to do something so many do not do anymore … sign autographs.  He was so gracious and accommodating.  It was hot, we know he was tired,  but he waited at his merch table in that heat and talked to everyone who wanted to meet him.  As a musician, a vocalist, and just a great person – we left the event feeling like we knew George Birge very well.

In addition to his website and Facebook page, be sure to follow him on Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.

I’m going to close this out with a few pictures from last night’s performance.  A few pictures taken throughout the day, including photos from a television interview with WJHL, and a radio interview with WXBQ.  Local readers will recognize television personality  Mark Reynolds, and our fantastic on-air staff from WXBQ.

If you ever have an opportunity to see George Birge in concert, do not let that opportunity pass you by.
