Last night, before Matt Stell took the stage, we noticed a lot of people heading back from the food trucks. It was dinner time, Matt Stell was about to start his show. And fans had their hands full of food truck food like barbecue sandwiches, funnel cake and other goodies. I’m not exactly sure where all that food was put when it was time for Matt to start his show, because the now empty hands were busy clapping , and those mouths were not chewing anymore … they were screaming. I’m kind of old. I’ve definitely outgrown the screaming age. But I’m young enough to remember that all that noise means we’re in for a great show.
Matt was our ‘2-for-2’ last night. He was our second interview-granting, autograph-signing, photo-opp, fan-friendly artist. who appreciated his fans, and really let all of them feel like they were the reason he was there. He had a way of making us smile all the way through his show – and definitely after. He announced from the stage that he would also be posing for photos, signing anything the fans had for him to sign, and that he wanted to meet everyone who wanted to meet him. The line was very long. The fans were great, too. All waiting their turn in line, and listening to what they were told as they made their way to the front to meet Matt. The little girl on the right was dressed for the holiday, and spent must of her time dancing in the aisle to Matt’s music.
And, if you want to hear about his music, we can fill you in there, too. He was great. His music is familiar – we’ve been listening to it on the radio for quite a while now. “Prayed for You” turned into a ‘sing-a-long’. I think everyone in the audience knew every word. “That Ain’t Me No More” is one of my favorites. And, Matt had quite a large choir of fans singing back to him on that one, too. I was a fan of “Everywhere But On” since the first time I heard it. Obviously, I’m not the only one.
After the show, I found myself heading to the Internet to check out his show schedule. Looks like he’s going to be a lot of places I’m not … but those of you in Idaho, Montana, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania (and so many other places) need to check out his schedule. I can almost guarantee that when Matt Stell is somewhere near you, you are going to want to be where he is. Keep up with his schedule here.
Joining Matt on stage were Brian Tewell on drums; Matt Morgeson, bass; and, Michael Blakemore, lead guitar. The group wouldn’t be complete without Steve Wallace, sound, and Tommy Wood, who handled the merch. We can’t forget to thank Chase Miller, tour manager. He was very nice, too.
In addition to Matt’s website, you can follow him on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and check out the other social media links he has listed on his website.
