Stone Country Records artist Ben Gallaher is set to premiere his take on the 1983 Bryan Adams smash, “Cuts Like a Knife,” this Thursday, Sept. 12, on WSM’s “Coffee, Country & Cody” ahead of its release across all streaming and digital retail partners on Friday, Sept. 13.

The modern-day recording – produced by Neil Thrasher and Patrick Thrasher – is a nod to a timeless era of music. Gallaher also performs every guitar part on the track, including the song’s iconic solo.

“As a guitar player, I could have written and played a different solo but really you can’t do that to such an iconic song and sound. On the new recording, I played what Keith Scott [Bryan Adams’ guitar player] played as a tribute. Still, no two guitar players are the same. Even if it’s the same note choices, every player has a different feel,” explains Gallaher.

“Recording ‘Cuts Like a Knife’ leans into my rock influence. It’s a nod to Bryan Adams, who’s such an iconic artist and one of the greatest singers. It’s a tribute to a song that belongs to a timeless era of music,” Gallaher continues.

Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, “Cuts Like a Knife” was originally released in May 1983, peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart and at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fans will get their first, full listen to Gallaher’s “Cuts Like a Knife” when it premieres on WSM’s “Coffee, Country & Cody” on Thursday, Sept. 12. Gallaher will stop by the studio in the 8 a.m. CT hour to premiere the song, perform live in-studio and talk new music with hosts Bill Cody, Charlie Mattos and Kelly Sutton.
