With a career spanning country and bluegrass, singer-songwriter Kevin Denney returns with a powerful new single, “Left Me Lonesome,” set for release on Turnberry Records. Steeped in tradition and raw emotion, the track is a soul-stirring ballad that showcases Denney’s signature rich vocals and masterful storytelling, marking a standout moment in his journey back to his bluegrass roots.

Written with classic bluegrass sensibilities, “Left Me Lonesome” tells a haunting tale of heartbreak and solitude. With imagery as deep as a Kentucky holler, Denney paints a picture of a man lost in the shadows of love gone wrong:

“Sundown pours into this room like a coalmine, it surrounds me,
Darker than the deepest tomb—can’t see how your memory found me.”

The song blends aching melodies, weeping fiddle, dobro, and mandolin, perfectly capturing the weight of loneliness. Influenced by legends like Keith Whitley, Harley Allen, and Larry Sparks, Denney delivers a performance steeped in authenticity, reflecting the bluegrass tradition of storytelling through song.

“‘Left Me Lonesome’ is an older song that my friend Jon Henderson and I wrote, but it had never been recorded until now. Writing and singing this song came so naturally to me. I’ve held it close for years, and I truly believe ‘Left Me Lonesome’ was meant for me to record.”

Hailing from Monticello, KY, Denney has built an impressive career as both a performer and a songwriter. After breaking onto the scene with the hit “That’s Just Jessie”, he went on to pen songs recorded by Craig Morgan (“Bonfire”), Tracy Byrd, Easton Corbin, Dailey & Vincent, and Larry Sparks, among others. His work has cemented his place among bluegrass and country’s finest songwriters. Now, with “Left Me Lonesome,” he brings his passion for traditional bluegrass to the forefront once again.
