“We all go through difficult times, and when we do it’s important to have the right voices around us. The friends that will tell us the truth and remind us who we are in the midst of our pain. When I wrote “I Remember You,” I had been watching a friend go through a really rough time. I wanted to encourage them, that the circumstances and pain they were going through were not their identity. I still remembered them; and even if they were struggling to remember who they are through the pain of what they were going through, I wanted to let them know that I was there to remind them of who they truly are.” – Brittany Bexton
I’m excited about this post. I have been following the career of singer/songwriter Brittany Bexton for a very long time. When I first met her, she was doing shows from coast to coast. On several of her visits to southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee, I had the pleasure of seeing her on stage. Brittany is energetic. Her stage presence is second to none. It is obvious she loves what she is doing, and those watching can’t help but love it, too. Any entertainer who has a natural ability to pull their audience into a participation mode knows what they are doing. Brittany is that kind of entertainer.
Brittany did a lot of covers – including many country songs. I thought of her as a country singer. But over the years I learned there is a lot more to this very talented young lady than a country song thrown into her repertoire here and there. Right now, I believe many would put her in the pop music category. I still think pop/country works for her as well. I can see “I Remember You” working with both pop and what we call ‘today’s country’.
The song does what a country song is supposed to do – it tells a story. A good story. I’m not going to tell you to listen to the lyrics, because you just will. From start to finish, you are going to want to see where the next words are going to take you. The story is compelling. It will touch the heart. It might make people understand how very important reaching out to comfort and help a friend or a loved one to find themself again…and to heal. This is the kind of song that you want to think beyond the lyrics. There is a lot going on here. A lot of very important messages. Brittany has found a way to put commitment and feelings into both the lyrics and the melody.
She wrote the new single, along with co-writer Andrew Shaver. It was co-produced by Brittany and Jeremy Holderfield. Jeremy also did the engineering on the song. The videographer for “I Remember You” was Danny Nagy, The video was produced and edited by Danny Nagy Productions, with co-directing by Brittany and Danny. Brittany took the female lead in her video, with Anthony Simenas taking the male lead. You will also see Gerrit DeBondt, as a friend. Don’t take your eyes from this video for a second. The characters are so believable. The video is well made, and the production is perfect. The smiles at the end of the video finish the story for us. Happy endings are always the best.
I mentioned that Brittany does cover country music, but that is certainly not where her interest in music ends. She grew up with Aretha Franklin, Motown, and rock and roll as the soundtracks that influenced her musical palate. She began her career as a youngster performing in hometown choirs and the theater. Brittany studied music intently in high school and took vocal lessons with four master teachers. She attended Pacific Conservatory Theater (PCPA) where she studied acting, singing and dancing, and worked in professional musical theater. In 2011, the determined Northern California native moved to Nashville to dedicate her concentrations toward her music as a full-time endeavor.
Since her relocation to Music City, Brittany has released two CDs (a self-titled album and an EP titled FREE FALL); she has toured to perform at fairs and festivals in 19 states (performing at Fiddler’s & Fiddleheads Festival/Oconto County Fair/Gogebic County Fair/Sonoma County Fair/Wyoming West Festival) sharing the spotlight with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Craig Wayne Boyd, Jason Sellers and Sarah Buxton among others. In Nashville, Brittany has played at special events and venues including 12th & Porter, The Rutledge and The Amethyst Affair.
As an active advocate against domestic abuse, Brittany works closely with various charities and affiliated organizations dedicating her time to assist in awareness campaigns throughout the year.
Brittany believes that her music and writing have a greater purpose to bring joy, laughter, connection, and hope to her listeners. Sharing personal insight, testimonies and her belief in God. Brittany has written an inspiring book titled “Learning to Believe Again: 30 Days to Finding Hope, Faith & Comfort in God’s Truth.” (Released February 2020). The 200-plus page paperback complements the hopeful and inspiring message of her single, “Believe Again,” which was released on February 28, 2020. She released the official music video for the song on June 3, 2022.
Brittany’s last single titled “Dance with the Devil,” debuted on the mediabase charts, hitting 35 on the HotAC Chart, and 37 on the CHR Top40 Chart. Brittany’s newest single, “I Remember You,” is currently climbing the charts, with the entirety of her upcoming album “Metamorphosis” set to come out in late 2025. While her lifetime of experience speaks volumes, Brittany truly believes she’s barely scratched the surface for what her music, belief system, and heart towards helping others can do to have a positive influence in the world.
