Sunday, July 3 was certainly a busy one.  A day full of fun, great food, and awesome music.  Prior to the fireworks, three country artists took the stage at the 35th annual Pepsi Independence Day Celebration.  We already told you about the opener, Restless Road, and Adam Doleac who took the stage after that.  Now, we’ll wrap things up by telling you about Tim Dugger.

With Tim’s current single, “Heart of a Small Town” coming out of radios everywhere, he is quickly becoming a favorite of every country music fan.  If anyone has forgotten what country music is supposed to sound like, Tim Dugger was there to remind you.  His music is as country as the traditional country artists he covered.  He gave us a little Haggard and a little Jones.  I think everyone was singing along when he hit the first note of “He Stopped Loving Her Today”.

Like most of the audience, old and young, I sat and smiled the entire time he was performing.  Tim is a singer/songwriter, recording for Curb Records. His Grand Ole Opry debut was in December, 2021.  His bio tells us he is an Alabama native who grew up on NASCAR and Gospel singing – along with classic Country music. NASCAR had a lot to do with kick-starting his country music career.  When he was introduced to former NASCAR driver and team owner, Richard Childress, he soon began playing his original music at tracks all over the country.

Tim doesn’t just write music, he writes stories.  “Heart of a Small Town” is a perfect example of his story-writing talent.  He can literally paint a picture.  I found myself thinking, “we did that in my hometown, too”.  I believe most of the audience was thinking  the same thing.

While the name Tim Dugger may be new to most of us, he’s been making music for a long time. His debut EP, “Beer on a Boat” was released in 2015.  I’m not sure how Tim stayed off of my radar for the past seven years, but we are certainly going to continue to follow his career closely, and help all of you keep up with what he’s doing, too..  You can listen to a lot more of Tim Dugger. His 6-song EP Signs of the Time is available everywhere.

Like our other artists last night, Tim came out to meet with fans after the show.  He had to be tired.  That was a great show, in extreme heat.  But the fans were so appreciative of the time he made for them.

we are sure you won’t want to miss any of the news about this absolutely awesome artist.  So be sure to check out his website and Facebook pages.  Follow him on Twitter and be sure to check out some of the other social media links he has listed on his website.

Again, special thanks going out to the sponsors of last night’s event.  Without them – there would be none of this!  Sponsors for this years event included Pepsi, Food City, WJHL, Freedom Hall of Johnson City, Precision Electric, Johnson City Press, Lamar Advertising, Courtyard by Marriot, Foster Signs and Bristol broadcasting Company.

The video below is about Tim’s Grand Ole Opry debut.  It gives us a lot of information about Tim, too.  Enjoy!
