Northeast Tennessee was definitely the place to be on Sunday, July 3.  The 35th annual Pepsi Independence Day Celebration took place at Freedom Hall in Johnson City.  In addition to the fireworks, which began just before 10 p.m., there were three great concerts to get the evening started, and one more after the fireworks were done.  Other activities included tribute to military personnel, the reigning Miss Johnson City sang our national anthem, and drawings and prizes were handed out.

We told you about the openers – Reckless Road.  Following their great performance we were treated to music from Adam Doleac.  This was my first time catching him on stage.  Anyone who has been checking out his music on line, and hearing some of it on the radio was already familiar with what we were bout to hear.  His set included “Drinkin’ It Wrong”, “Way Over You”, “somewhere Cool With You”, Coulda Loved You Longer”, “Don’t It Sound Alright”, “Neon Fools”, “Meet Me in the City”,” Famous”, “Story of a Girl,” and Whiskey’s Fine”.

Like Restless Road before him, Adam stayed after his show to pose for photos with fans, and sign autographs.  After watching a fun show, it’s always that little ‘icing on the cake’ for the crowd when the artists comes out to spend a few minutes with the fans.

His song “Whiskey’s Fine” is from his independent EP.  The song aired on SiriusXM’s The Highway Channel, and spent three weeks at number one on that stations Hot Country Countdown chart. . He was also one of Rolling Stone Country’s “New Artists You Need to Know”. He has been on many lists over the years, including Pandora Radio’s Artists to Watch.  His single “Famous” spent two weeks at No 1 on Sirius XM The Highway Hot Country Countdown a few years back, He has toured with Mitchell Tenpenny and Scotty McCreery.

Adam made his debut appearance at the Grand Ole Opry just a week or so before his show here last night. We really enjoyed having him come visit us in Johnson City last night, and hope he will get back soon to one of our local fairs or concert venues.

Sponsors for this years event included Pepsi, Food City, WJHL, Freedom Hall of Johnson City, Precision Electric, Johnson City Press, Lamar Advertising, Courtyard by Marriot, Foster Signs and Bristol broadcasting Company.

Find out more about Adam by visiting his website and Facebook.  You can also follow him on Twitter, and view his videos on YouTube.
