We had a very rainy start to our Pepsi Independence Day celebration.  The event was held on Sunday, July 3, on the grounds of the Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tenn. Folks began arriving around 3 p.m., with activities starting at 5:30.  WXBQ Radio staff welcomed the crowd to the party, and we were ready to go.

Always a pleasure to have the WXBQ Rabbit on hand to entertain the young and old alike. In addition to The Rabbit, WXBQ on-air personalities Marcus Brooks, Marc Tragler, Nikki Thomas, and Steve Stroud handled on-air interviews as well as entertainment introductions.  Sara Diamond, TV anchor at WJHL in Johnson City also there to help with announcements and introductions.

Fortunately, by 6 p.m., when Restless Road took the stage, the thunder, lightning and down pours had cleared to a sprinkle, and we were ready for the show. Sponsors for this years event included Pepsi, Food City, WJHL, Freedom Hall of Johnson City, Precision Electric, Johnson City Press, Lamar Advertising, Courtyard by Marriot, Foster Signs and Bristol broadcasting Company.

Zach Beeken, Garret Nichols and Colton Pack make up the Nashville-based band. If you are a fan of television shows like American Idol, The Sing-Off, and X-Factor, you may remember this band. Back in 2013, they were the fourth place finishers on the X-Factor (a TV singing competition)

In addition to recording, these three have also written songs recorded by Rascal Flatts, Grainger Smith, and other artists.

If you have never seen this group in concert, I suggest you put them on your list.  You won’t be sorry.  They are fun to watch, and definitely enjoy what they are doing. Following their show, they took time to meet with fans and pose for photos.  Something fans always look forward to.

Their set included their current single, “Growing Old With You”, as well as “Hometown Tonight,” “Took One Look at Her Momma”, Headlights”, “Take Me Home”, “Pour Some Sugar”, “One Step Ahead” “No Can Do”, “One Beer Forward Two Shots Back” and “Bar Friends”.  With two acts to follow, Restless Road certainly made the most of their time on stage.

You can keep up with all the latest Restless Road news by visiting their website and following them on Twitter and Facebook.  You can find other social media links listed on their website.

Having this Sony Recording group to open our 2022 Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration was perfect!  And to all of you, from all of us here at Country’s Chatter – Happy 4th of July.
