BA 13Whenever Brinley Addington comes home to Northeast Tennessee, we know he will bring a bit of Nashville with him.  On Wednesday, July 4, we were fortunate to have Brinley back in town to be part of our Pepsi Independence Day Celebration, held on the grounds of Freedom Hall in Johnson City, Tenn.  Originally from Kingsport, Tenn., this singer/songwriter now resides in Nashville, and recently released a new EP, “Songs From a Bar,” and his new single “No Thanks”.

If you are a fan of music with a real traditional country sound, then you want to hear this new music from Brinley.  Our July 4 event gave the audience a chance to hear some of these great songs live.  I always enjoy an artist who sounds as good on stage as he does on a recording.  Brinley is one of those artists.  His new music is on Spotify, or better yet – you can grab your own copy at iTunes.  This is a five-song EP that will definitely leave you wanting more.  When I listen to a record for the first time,  I can usually pick one to call my ‘favorite’ – I couldn’t do that this time.  I liked every one as much as the one before it.  When I listened to “Another Heartache”, my first thought was, ‘it doesn’t get anymore country than that’.

DSCN4618A lot of what we are hearing on country radio today sounds the same.  It is often difficult to distinguish one artist from the next, or one song from the next.  Brinley does not fit into that ever-growing group of what radio thinks we want to hear. His music is different, his lyrics are different, and his vocals are uniquely his own.  No one else sounds like Brinley Addington. You will only need to hear him sing once to recognize his voice the next time you hear it.

When Brinley walks out on stage, he immediately takes ownership.  And, while it becomes his stage and his audience, each person knows they are the reason he is there. Those of us who have been watching him for the past 11 years have not only seen what he can do, but we’ve seen how he responds to us.  Brinley works hard to make sure we are having a good time. You can’t watch without noticing that he is having a great time up there, and really enjoys what he does. He also appreciates his fans, coming out after the show to meet with fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures.

In addition to his website, visit his Facebook page, and please remember to ‘Like” it while you are there.  Check out his Instagram, too.  He has a lot of pictures and videos for you there.  He also has some videos up on his YouTube channel for you,  And, do not forget about Twitter, you will find Brinley there, too, at @brinley_. If you aren’t following Country’s Chatter on Twitter, we’d love to have you, too.  You will find us @countryschatter.

BA marcGoing to put a few more pictures up from the show.  And, again give a huge thanks to the folks who helped sponsor our 33rd Annual Pepsi Independence Day Celebration – Pepsi, Food City, Champion Chevrolet, Foster Signs, Precision Electric, Courtyard, The Johnson City Press and WXBQ 96.9 FM.
