Lexi 3I am always amazed at the awesome young talent coming our of Nashville.  Today I’d like to re-introduce you all to Lexi Lauren.  We had an short article up about her a few years ago. Since then, she dropped off our radar for a bit.  She is now back.  And, this girl definitely knows  how to make a noticable return!

Lexi has a new holiday EP coming out soon called “California Christmas”.  The title track is an original song, with a catchy melody and great lyrics. It tells a story that everyone who can’t make it home for Christmas will understand.  The 16-year-old Sacramento, Calif., native moved to Nashville a little over a year ago.  Christmas is coming, and while I’m sure she is loving her new home in Nashville, her lyrics tell us that it just isn’t easy being away over the holidays. “No matter where I go, there’s no place like home, I’m missing a California Christmas…”

The lyrics are descriptive.  Even in song, she found a way to put all of the adjectives in places that they paint a picture of Christmas decorations, snow, packages wrapped in Christmas paper, busy sidewalks, toy stores, wreaths on doors, hard candy, Blue Christmas playing on the radio… If you aren’t quite ready for the holidays, listen to this one, and we guarantee you will be.  I didn’t have to listen too many times before I found myself singing along.

Lexi 2Her cover of John Denver’s “O Holy Night” is beyond beautiful.  Her vocals are crystal clear, and every note perfectly song in front of an awesome instrumetal background.  I listened to this one over and over.

“My family is so supportive of my dream, and was able to pack up everything and move to Nashville for me.  I got into country music when I discovered the song, “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” by Martina McBride.  I instantly connected with the lyrics,” Lexi said.  “My grandpa was battling lung cancer at the time, and through Martina’s song, I realized how powerful music can be.  That’s when I decided I wanted to touch the world with stories adn songs, the way Martina’s song changed my life”.

Lexi spent the last year writing, performing and recording in Nashville.  “I am super excited to be releasing “California Christmas,” my brand new Christmas EP. When choosing the songs for the project, I wanted to pick one song from each decade (50s, 60s, 70s and  80s), and was able to incorporate instruments and give each song a new flare from its era,” she said.

Lexi 1“California Christmas,” the original Christmas song on the EP, is a song that is super special to her.  Christmas, 2017, was the first time she wasn’t in California for the holidays.  “It felt so foreign and strange to be away from friends, family and all the familiar t hings I was used to during the Christmas season,” Lexi explained.  She came up with the idea to indlude different classic Christmas song lyrics into the original song, and if you listen closely, you will hear about 10 different references from other Christmas songs.  “this song is something that I hold dear to my heart,” Lexi said.  “I’m so excited to share it with the world.”
