‘The Happiest Girl In The Whole USA,” Donna Fargo’s Spirit of Love Continues to
Uplift Fans With New Enduring Song of Loyalty, “You Can Count On Me!”
The legendary Donna Fargo continues to spread joy to country music fans over 50 years after she first touched our hearts with hits, “The Happiest Girl In The Whole USA” and “Funny Face.” Donna Fargo is releasing a new song to radio titled, “You Can Count On Me.” The name says it all, embracing Fargo’s enduring loyalty.
Donna Fargo shares, “My favorite virtue is loyalty, so I guess it would be natural for me to write a song about it; however, when I write a song I don’t over-analyze it. I just write what I’m led to write at the time. I think love is the greatest gift God gave us, and this is a song about love and loyalty.”
From the first beat of the drum roll and guitar, the mood is lightened as Donna Fargo’s distinct vocals bring a reassurance that makes you want to sing-a-long and be the someone others can count on.
Donna continues, “When I listen to it, it makes me want to move to it. It’s a song that makes you feel good. It’s fun! And I think it’s commercial and relatable, especially for people who believe in true love.”
“You Can Count On Me” is the first preview of an upcoming album, a project Donna and her husband, producer and longtime manager, Stan Silver, were working on when he died in 2021. Together they were magic – creating the sound that initially catapulted her to stardom and continued to generate hit after hit including songs like “Superman,” “You Were Always There,” “I’ll Try A Little Bit Harder,” “You Can’t Be A Beacon,” “U.S. of A.,” “That Was Yesterday,” “Whatever I Say Means I Love You” and so many others.
Donna Fargo upholds Stan’s influence and legacy with the release of this new music.
Donna’s songwriting is another key component to her success. Writing her debut song “Happiest Girl” and the follow-up single “Funny Face” gave her the honor of having back-to-back million sellers to start her career.
As a matter of fact, her signature song, “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA,” repeatedly ranks as one of the top country songs of all time. The record earned Fargo a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female in 1973.
Besides a new collection of songs set for release later this year, Donna Fargo also has an upcoming novel. And she is the author of eight inspirational books and over two-thousand greeting cards for Blue Mountain Arts.
